A Delicate and Flavorful Cuttlefish with Oyster Sauce

Here is the recipe for cuttlefish in oyster sauce:


Ingredients:

  • 500 grams fresh cuttlefish, peeled and cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce or chili sauce (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch, dissolved in 1 tablespoon water
  • Scallions or celery, for topping

How to make:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant and slightly wilted.
  3. Add the cuttlefish pieces to the pan and cook until the cuttlefish changes color and is cooked through, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Combine oyster sauce, chili sauce or chili sauce (if using), ketchup, soy sauce, sugar, and ground pepper. Mix well until the cuttlefish is coated with the sauce.
  5. Add cornstarch solution to the pan and stir continuously until the sauce thickens.
  6. Once the sauce has thickened, remove the oyster sauce cuttlefish from the pan and serve on a serving plate.
  7. Top with chopped spring onion or celery as garnish.
  8. Serve the oyster sauce cuttlefish warm with white rice.
