Here’s How to Make Seafood Fried Rice at Home

Here's a delicious recipe for seafood fried rice:

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked white rice (preferably day-old rice)
  • 8 ounces mixed seafood (such as shrimp, squid, and scallops), cleaned and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the mixed seafood to the skillet and cook until they are no longer translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the seafood from the skillet and set it aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil and sauté the minced garlic, diced onion, and diced carrot until they are slightly softened, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and pour the beaten eggs into the cleared space. Scramble the eggs until they are fully cooked.
  5. Add the cooked rice to the skillet and stir-fry it with the vegetables and eggs. Break up any clumps of rice with a spatula or fork.
  6. Add the frozen peas, sliced green onions, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil to the skillet. Stir-fry everything together for another 2-3 minutes until the rice is well coated and heated through.
  7. Return the cooked seafood to the skillet and stir-fry for an additional minute to heat it up.
  8. Taste the fried rice and season with salt and pepper as desired.
  9. Remove the skillet from heat and serve the seafood fried rice hot. You can garnish it with additional sliced green onions, if desired.
